THE
POWER GOSPEL

The Great Commission
Matthew 28: 18-20 Jesus gave
this charge: "God authorized and commanded me to commission you:
Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, ( all nations,
everywhere & everyone), in this new way of life, marking them by baptism in
the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the
practice of all I have commanded you. I'll be with you as you do this, day
after day after day, right up to the end of the age." The Message
This is called the Great Commission because
·
It was the
major theme of Jesus.
Take the
Gospel to all of the world, to everyone, everywhere
·
The last
thing He said after He was
resurrected and went up into Heaven was…
·
because it is not a mere command but a privilege and
honor!
He gives us new life, abundant life, and eternal life..
Then makes us not slaves, servants, robots.. but makes us children,
adopts us, shares with us, and lets us be partners in the family
business…saving the world!! WOW!
The Great Commission is take the
Good News to all people, everywhere but
what exactly is the Good News?
The bad news
·
mankind is
separated from God by sin
·
There is
none righteous, not even one in the eyes of God
The Great News
·
God has
sent Jesus to remove the sin that separates men from God.
·
There is a
miracle called the New Life, anyone,
anywhere, good or bad, etc can experience.
·
It is
free, can’t earn it, be good enough for it, or even deserve it..
·
God will
transform a person in an instant and for a lifetime
o
By the power of God a person will be transformed..
o
their sin will be removed and a robe of righteousness
cover them,
o
their past will be cut off from them and a new destiny is assigned….
o
Their weakness, faults and frailties will no longer
have to drive their life because God himself will live inside of them as they
surrender to Him he will form mold them anew!
A new beginning, a new life, this is the power of God, a life swap!
EXAMPLES: I have seen it with my own eyes! Over and over again!
Starting with me: it started one day about 25 years ago in my last year
of high school.
The gratefulness that I experienced that night has
never left me. Over the years I have seen this Gospel do great work in so many
peoples lives. Good people, bad people, kind, ugly, successful, losers.
I have never lost my awe and gratefulness to the
great, kind compassionate God who still reaches people today!

Went from religion to relationship

God initiated the relationship
·
It was about God’s saving power not Paul’s goodness
·
Once he received the free gift, he had to share it
with everyone else!

Paul preached a different message… life swap, the power Gospel!
Romans 1:16-17
For I am not ashamed of this Good
News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who
believes-Jews first and also Gentiles.
I am not ashamed of the Gospel…... For I
am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ.
Sometimes of preachers,
religion organized and
disorganized,
churches, clergy, Christians,
But not of the Gospel… he separates the Gospel from
everything else
WHY? BECAUSE…. It is the power of God at work
Paul didn’t talk about religion,
Religious systems, or ethereal
feelings of uniting with the universe,
philosophy, or ethics
but about the power of God
The Gospel brings change, a life
swap. It takes away our sin and gives us a new life within. God himself who has
always loved us is now in us! It gives depth, purpose destiny to
our lives
Saving everyone who believes:
WOW!
WOW. Everyone!! This word blows me away! Can you imagine a God who cares for
everyone!?
the real Gospel.. God so loved the
WORLD! All who call upon the name of
the Lord will be saved, I desire that none perish but ALL have eternal life!!
Here
is what makes Christianity so different and vital!
The
simple message of the Gospel is that
§
God loves people, all
people everywhere.
WHO BELIEVES:
the Gospel has two parts God’s and ours. He sent Jesus to die in… we must
receive it in faith!
The seed, it takes God’s part and ours.
Paul went around the world sharing the good news, EVERYONE,
Everywhere because he had experienced first hand the goodness of a loving God.
It is this beautiful life giving Gospel
that makes me want to go to the Ends of the Earth…
So
many have yet to experience the New Life, forgiveness, acceptance and love of
God
In
Mongolia, a world a way , there are thousands, who’ve never heard the Gospel once.
entire
families who have no idea what the word church even means.
There
are those in Ukraine, Russia, Mongolia who are deaf… treated like they are
garbage and put off to the side by those who hear. So many have yet to hear the
good news…
I
know the USA has plenty of people who still need to hear the great news.. we
may need to find different ways to say it so that they GET IT.
But there are good churches here, Christians all over the place, radio…
With one life to live I want to reach
as many people as I can... those who otherwise won’t hear
REMEMBER!
1.
be a part of the great commission here. it isn’t a command, because it isn’t something we
have to do but get to do, be a part of here where you live
2.
be a part of the great commission all the way to the
ends of the earth! Its’ s a god
thing to think about all people everywhere! We need to not just reach our
people, but people! God so loved the world, people everywhere, that HE GAVE his
only Son! This is the beginning of the Gospel!
3.
remember the real gospel is all about the power of
God to forgive, renew, restore! isn’t about rules, regulations, performance
and what you do. It is about the goodness of God, His great love for you, me
and all people! The Gospel is the best and greatest news! God loves us, God
loves people and they can have a new life if they will respond!

If you haven’t experienced the new life do it today!
